Abstract

The type of research used in this research is descriptive quantitative. There are two variables studied in this study, namely teacher professionalism as variable X and student interest in SD Negeri 174625 Lobusihim Academic Year 2019/2020 as variable Y. The subjects in this study were 23 students, 10 boys and 13 girls. Data collection techniques used are questionnaires, observations, interviews and documentation. To find the formulation of the first problem, namely a description of the professionalism of the teacher in the learning process in the classroom using questionnaires, observations, interviews and documentation to take pictures during the learning process. The second is a description of students' interest in learning biology by using questionnaires and interviews. The results of the questionnaire obtained were then described for each item with descriptive percentages and analyzed using simple regression and assisted by the SPSS v program. 16.0. From the professionalism of the teacher, it can arise interest from a student to continue learning. In teacher professionalism there are four competencies that must be possessed, namely professional competence, pedagogic competence, personality competence and social competence.
