Abstract

Character education is a planned effort made to teach and instill good moral values in students. The implementation of character education is carried out in teaching and learning activities, one of which is through PKN subjects. This research is field research, in In this case, the researcher uses qualitative research and uses descriptive qualitative, namely analyzing and presenting facts systematically so that they can be more easily understood and concluded. The data source for this research uses primary data and secondary data. The data collection technique for this research uses observation data, interviews and documentation. The data validity technique uses triangulation. The data analysis technique uses data reduction, data presentation, verification or drawing conclusions. Based on the location and object, this research is considered field research.

From the research results, it can be concluded that the implementation of character education consists of planning and implementation. Some of the learning plans used are made by teachers and some are not made by the teachers themselves, but show the integration of character education. In terms of implementation, the teacher implements it through learning methods designed by the teacher himself to make the teaching process more interesting and easier for his students to understand and in various activities such as spontaneous activities, instilling discipline, and creating a conducive atmosphere. In PKN learning, teachers develop and instill around 4 values or pillars of character developed by the school, such as the pillars of courtesy, cooperation, mutual respect, and religion. Efforts to instill this character are by getting used to the activities that already exist at school and implementing them more by each teacher who teaches. The obstacles faced by teachers in implementing character education are limited school facilities and infrastructure, learning methods that are still the same without changes, attitude assessment, and family factors.
